Ahn Si-Nae
Abstract
Objective: This research studied the effect of neurocognitive rehabilitation on acute stroke patients` upper limb functions and suggested therapy methods for neurocognitive rehabilitation.

Methods: The study subject of this research is a male patient with left hemiplegia. The subject was given total of 20 neurocognitive rehabilitation sessions five times a week in duration of six weeks except for evaluation period before and after the intervention. During each session, training was done by giving him questions about distance, placement, and texture of his left upper limb. In these trainings, subject had to recognize various neuro motor-sensory inputs from his left upper limb and speech these into words. Evaluation periods were held before the intervention, in the middle of the intervention (3 weeks), and after the intervention (6 weeks).

Results : The result of this research showed what effect neurocognitive rehabilitation has on acute patients` upper limb functions. In MFT, the score improved 4 points than before rehabilitation. In FMA, the score improved 7 points, and it improved 2 points in MBI.

Conclusion : When the effect of neurocognitive rehabilitation on acute patients` upper limb functions has been checked by different times, it was shown that patients` upper limb functions and daily activities improved.
